Meno Herobrine sa po minecraft verziu Beta 1.6.6 objavovalo všade. Hráči hlásili stretnutie s tajomným dvojníkom postavičky za ktorú hráte, s tým rozdielom, že mala biele oči. Niektorí hlásili, že postava na nich zaútočila, iní že bola mierumilovná. Čo je na tom pravdy?
Herobrine bol spozorovaný aj v multiplayeri, aj v singleplayeri. Jeden s príbehov stretnutia hovorí: "Spawnol som sa a začal som rúbať drevo, postavil som si Workbench ("truhla" na ktorej sa vyrábajú všetky veci). Na oficiálnej stránke www.minecraft.net sa dá zmeniť skin vašej postavy pod podmienkou, že máte originálnu hru. Ak sa dostavíte na stránku kde sa tie skíny menia a do URL adresy za slovom History vpíšte Herobrine, vybehne vám postavička Herobrinea.
